Alabama

The Statute

Alabama state statue  [statute number will be added once the code is updated - bill passed in May 2013] permits the home production of beer, mead and cider for personal use in wet counties and municipalities, subject to limitations on the amount produced and possessed.

Summary

The Alabama homebrew statute permits the home production of beer, mead and cider in wet counties an municipalities. Convicted felons are not permitted to make beer, mead or cider for personal use. The statute limits production to 15 gallons per calendar quarter and possession at any time to 15 gallons. The statute allows for transport of homemade beer, mead and cider in amounts of no more than 10 gallons and only for organized events of homebrew competitions and judgings licensed by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board as a special events retail license. Such homebrew competitions and judgings cannot be held on the premises of entities otherwise licensed by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.


Florida

The Statute

Statute 562.165 is one of the most comprehensive laws allowing for the production of beer or wine in the home for personal use. The statute was last amended in 1983.

Summary

Statute 563.01 defines "beer" and "malt beverage" as all brewed beverages that contain malt. Possession of alcoholic by those under age 21 is prohibited. may produce beer for personal use, and sales are prohibited.  The federal production limits are also recognized.There is a special provision stating homebrew can be transported for personal use, That includes use at organized affairs, exhibitions, or competitions such as home brew contests, tastings, or judging. 

Louisiana

The Statute

Title 26, Section 793 A (5) defines homebrew and creates a free three-day special event permit for businesses with licenses for on-premises consumption. 

Summary

The definition of homebrew is "beer, mead and other alcoholic beverages made through fermentation." Homebrew can be used for "noncommercial reasons" at a wide range of events. A free 3 day special events permit is required for serving of homebrew at businesses licensed for on-premises consumption. There is a  limit of 12 permits per year on these permits.
Mississippi

Statute

Statute §67-3-11 provides for the home production of wine. Currently no such provision exists for the home manufacture of beer.

Update!  The Law HAS Been Changed.

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 67-3-11, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT EVERY PERSON SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE HOMEMADE BEER FOR PERSONAL, FAMILY, DOMESTIC OR HOUSEHOLD PURPOSES IF THE BEER IS MADE IN A COUNTY OR MUNICIPALITY IN WHICH THE POSSESSION OF LIGHT WINE OR BEER IS LAWFUL; TO LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF HOMEMADE BEER THAT MAY BE MADE BY ANY PERSON IN A CALENDAR YEAR; TO AUTHORIZE HOMEMADE BEER; TO AUTHORIZE THE TRANSPORT OF HOMEMADE BEER FROM THE PREMISES WHERE MADE ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARTICIPATING IN A BONA FIDE EXHIBITION, CONTEST OR COMPETITION WHERE HOMEMADE BEER IS BEING TASTED AND JUDGED; TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT HOMEMADE BEER MAY NOT BE SOLD; TO AMEND SECTIONS 67-3-7, 67-3-13 AND 67-3-15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, IN CONFORMITY THERETO; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

Summary

It is now legal to homebrew in Missisippi!
